Mac Cross continues his memories: "Building friendships that still endure—like Tom Braden, Fred Porter, Dave Leake, Scotty Rogers, Jack Willson, Jack Townsend, Dick Babcock; Bob Davidson '39 and Bill Kent '39, both companions on travel to Great Britain and the Scandinavian countries in the summer of 1939. Some of the best times were shared after graduation.
If I hadn't gone to Dartmouth I would not have met my wife of 65 years and counting. Strangely we each grew up in the same town, went to the same schools, knew each other by sight but never talked. In the fall of 19371 heard she was at Colby and telephoned to make a date. We clicked and the rest is history, all recorded in a self-published memoir titled A Mostly Happy Life written for my children, grandchildren and the generations to follow." Thanks, Mac. Perhaps sharing those recollections will encourage other classmates to do the same.
Tom Braden's story in the Jan/Feb Class Notes had previously appeared in the foreword to yank, Ted Ellsworths book about his WWII exploits. Teds book continues to sell well at the bookstores.
Our secretary Donna Faunce continues her excellent job of handling obituary information for the class. Information should be sent to her at 11 Overlook Drive, Canton, CT 06019-2022.
