Ned Jacoby continues the tale about his late-in-life relocation to the Hanover area: "So, does there have to be a downside? The first thing friends in southern California said when we told them where we were moving was, 'How are you going to stand the winters?' But it's not the winter weather, especially if you don't have to go out on the storm days. No, the downside, if anything, is growth. Late last year a financial magazine listed Hanover as the second best place in the United States to live—just one of a number of similar articles. That sort of thing elicits groans; even from people who have come here just a few years ago who feel the growth rate is too fast. Maybe that's right, but there's still a long way to go. The woods are maybe wilder now than they were years ago. There's a small deer herd wintering around our little condominium complex and the other evening a cow moose and calf held up traffic on the two-lane into town.

"As of now there are more gallery shows, plays, concerts, talks by interesting speakers of all disciplines and more easily attended sports events than one can handle. Alumni even get a courtesy library card to access Baker's huge resources. We're still getting settled, but are very glad we moved and are looking forward to becoming a part of the community here."

Thanks, Ned, for the look into your life.
