Sept/Oct 2007 Helena Burdge, Betty Musser,

At a meeting we attended someone remarked on the number of alumni who ended up working at Dartmouth. We thought it would be interesting to check out how many '44s, at some time in their careers, had jobs at the College. With the aid of the Eric BarradaleS and some researching in the reunion books we found eight men. Soon after WWII Jim Browning began as an instructor and later a professor of engineering at Thayer School. He taught there from 1947 through 1986. Alfred J. Densmore Jr. worked as the assistant ski coach under Walter Prager and then as acting head coach for the 1947-48 season. Dave Eckles was employed in various positions in the development office from 1966 to 1987. He also served as director of stewardship. Fritz Hier worked overseas for a variety of international groups for 18 years. He came back, settled in Cornish and became Dartmouth's director of public relations for 17 years. Arthur Kiendl spent his career in school administration because Dartmouth invited him to be assistant to Dean Neidlinger shortly after WWII. From 1948 through 1958 he was an associate dean and director of counseling. Rod Morgan returned to Hanover in 1972 to be vice president for administration. For nine years he was in charge of personnel, planning, building and grounds, Dartmouth Dining Association, Hanover Inn, golf course and the Skiway. Leonard Rieser, in 40 years at Dartmouth, was a professor of physics, provost, director of faculty and director of the Dickey Endowment. Marsh Tenny became a professor of physiology and chairman of that department at the Dartmouth Medical School in 1956. After that he was associate dean of research and planning, director and dean of the Medical School. That's quite an impressive array!

We all hope to see you at the mini, September 28 and 29.

We regret to report the deaths of Frederic Wier Campbell Jr., Charles Henry Schumacher and Warren Sullivan Jr. We send our condolences to the families and friends of these classmates.
