Our guest columnist in this issue is William "Ezz" Hale, our gift planning officer.

At Bill McElnea's request I offer an alert to classmates about the opportunities available to us to continue our support to the College through a planned gift, that is through such things as a unitrust, a gift annuity, a bequest, a life income fund, a pledge or even a scholarship. Although the class of 1944 generously supports the annual campaign for the Dartmouth College Fund (formerly the Alumni Fund), through the years classmates have made additional gifts to the College through other programs. I write to call attention to those other programs that classmates may be thinking about. No doubt the best way of discussing these various programs is to call Susan Hanifin in Hanover at (603) 646-3622. She heads up the College's planned giving programs. By speaking directly with Susan or someone in her office classmates can get specifics on any one of the programs and can pursue whichever one meets their specific desires. It is not necessary for me or any other '44 to become involved in another classmate's financial matters—a distinct advantage!

Let Susan Hanifin or one of her staff do it instead. So I encourage classmates to think of making a planned gift to Dartmouth and to call Susan Hanifin's office for assistance in doing so.

We regret to report the deaths of FlavelBlashfield Beattie, Phillip Hunter Brown, Ph.D., and Robert William Rader. We send our condolences to their families and friends.
