I received several reports of fun and renewed friendships from '67s and '72s following their respective reunions in June. Hearing of those good times I realize it is not too early for us to start thinking about a return to Hanover for our 40th reunion in 2009. Remember it is less than two years away, and you know how quickly that time will pass. Our reunion co-chairs John Leavitt and Terry Robinson are seeking volunteers to work with them on the reunion committee. They promise no heavy lifting is involved but would appreciate your assistance. Contact them or me if you are willing to lend a hand. Discussion among the executive and reunion committee members has led to a favored slogan for the 2009 gathering, meant to inspire and admonish you to attend: "Get back! Get back! Get back to where you once belonged!" For those of us who do attend, we can apologize to the Beatles, change the verb tense and claim "Got back to where we still belong!" I can envision T-shirts and mugs emblazoned with the words and there will only be one place to get them, so start making your travel plans.
Susan Leavitt has been such a great help to John in his reunion activities that apparently Terry Robinson felt he also needed a co-co-chair. Early in June he married Vivian Cobb in Colorado Springs. The College was well represented at the event with the presence of Sandy Alderson, Bob Lundquist and Lonnie Donovan as well as Vivians Dartmouth daughter Stephanie To. We wish them great happiness and look forward to seeing them all at the reunion.
Please check the July issue of The '69 Times you received last month. There is valuable information about a class gift (actually a mini-project), which has been approved. In addition our alumni giving liaison VP Jeff Bloomberg has proposed a true class project that would involve an endowed chair or a named scholarship. It will require a substantial effort on our parts over the next few years but Jeff has offered a very generous beginning to that effort so please read about it and send your comments and commitments to the class officers. There is much more that editor Allen Denison has provided in that issue so either retrieve it from your files or read it on our Web site.
A final note of nostalgia: Our favorite alert Upper Valley reader provided an article about the haircut emporium most of us frequented (or attended rarely) while in Hanover—Walt and Ernies Barbershop. Bob Trottier, who has been cutting hair for 50 years and saw many of us, gave his last haircut in November and turned his shop over to his daughter and two other young women (how times have changed).
Keep those cards, letters, phone calls and e-mails coming as both Allen and I are anxious to hear about the happenings in your lives, as are your classmates.
