ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONORS
David Hughes '70, senior editor of Aviation Week &Space Technology magazine and a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and pilot, has earned the 2008 Gulf stream Award for the Aerospace Journalist of the Year by the World Leadership Forum and the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Heather Roulston Ettinger '84, executive vice president and senior advisor for the Cleveland, Ohio-based Fair port Asset Management, has been named one of the "Top 50 Women in Wealth Management" by WealthManager magazine.
Gregory G. Garre '87, acting U.S. solicitor general, has been nominated by President Bush for the position. The principal deputy solicitor general at the Justice Department since 2005, Garre is responsible for overseeing all government litigation before the U.S. Supreme Court, where he has argued 23 cases.
Christine Wichers '87 earned the 2008 Adams Pro Bono Publico Award from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. As a partner in the Boston law firm Choate, Hall and Stewart, Wichers spent more than 1,700 pro bono hours reuniting a Pakistani woman with her children.
Jason Maloney '91 earned a Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Journalism Award as co-producer and cameraman of the PBS News Hour with Jim Lehrer/HD Net World Report program, A Silent War, AViolent Peace: Uganda's Child Soldiers, which examined how the decadeslong civil war in Uganda has brutalized children. He also recently cofounded the N.Y.C.-based Bureau for International Reporting, a nonprofit news organization designed to produce and distribute low-cost international affairs news programming for broadcast on American TV outlets.
