Hardy Hendren, M.D., who retired several years ago, was chairman of pediatric surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and after 55 years of service was honored by the dedication of the W. Hardy Hendren conference room at Mass General. He had served as chief of pediatric surgery since 1960. On the same occasion he was honored with the presentation of a distinguished service award from the American Pediatric Surgical Association. The latter was only the sixth such award in 38 years. He continues to work regularly in his office and occasionally assists in surgery. The class would welcome news from any of the group of more than 30 M.D.s from the class.

As an item of interest, a "Who's Who" in our class, there follows this succession of class presidents since graduation: 1947-57, Jesse Chadwell (dec.); 1957-67, Allen Bildner; 1967-72, Ed Senghas (dec.); 1972-78, Frank Weber; 1978-83, Walt Person; 1983-87, Alan Epstein; 1987-92, Townes Harris (dec.); 1992-97, Hugh Chapin; 1997-2002, Andy McCulloch; 2002-present, John Trethaway.

As secretary, the writer is a scribe, not a novelist, and would welcome news items. The sympathy of the class is extended to the family of Harley Timbers, who died on October 23.

Keep in touch.
