Gerry Phillips writes that during a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration couples attending made contributions to the Dartmouth Ethics Institute. According to the College, the institute will sponsor a multidisciplinaiy research program called Ethics Across the Curriculum. His family had created a memorial to his parents in the form of an annual award to an undergraduate reflecting interest and strength in ethics.

On December 29 Bill Hallager's wife, Jean, died in Lincoln, New Hampshire, where they lived since Bill's retirement. Jean was a good friend from her years in Hanover as secretary to the College registrar. They had been married for 57 years. She enjoyed her family, friends, music and the out-of-doors and will be missed at our reunions. A memorial service is planned for May 17 in Lincoln.
