Gene Orsenigo died on Christmas Day. Almost to the end he was active in his family's furniture business and faithfully wrote this column. I'm honored to have been asked to take over for him and will strive to give you news of as many classmates as possible.
Em and I moved to the Midwest last year. We had lunch with Harry Espenscheid before he left for Santa Barbara, California, where he and his dear late wife, Dottie, spent their winters. It's great to live near Mary Engelman. Tom Beers' wife, Mary, spent a delightful few days with us. Em phones Stan Smoyer frequently and speaks with both Frank Lepreau and Jack Gilbert occasionally. Barbara Tobin, Jane Daniells and I keep in touch. We received holiday greetings from Bernice Cohen, Pru Gilmore, Ethelyn Hedges Rather, Bill Judd, Ann Kneisel and Dottie Morton.
Stan Smoyer reports that 1934 gave the most money to the Alumni Fund of any non-reunion class except the class of 1952. This year 1934 donated funds again to SEAD (continuing the late Bill Barnet's efforts) and to the Athletics Sponsor Program.
We're sad to report Randy Klinefelter's death and send our utmost sympathy to his wife, Isobel. (Please refer to the obituary in this issue.)
Stan and Marge Smoyer will attend the dedication of the soccer facility in April, another gift to the College by Stan.
Please send me news; otherwise I'll have to depend on nostalgia, which is an appealing thought at this point in life.
