IF YOU WANT TO PLAY, YOU'VE GOT TO PAY
The U.S. government requires all coed colleges and universities that participate in a Title IV federal student financial assistance program and in intercollegiate athletics to disclose data annually on athletic staffing, participation, revenues and expenses. The Department of Education uses the information in its report to Congress on gender equity in intercollegiate athletics. The statistics are then made public to give prospective students a sense of how committed a school is to providing equitable athletic opportunities for men and women. Here's a look at some of the numbers Dartmouth filed for 2006, as well as where the College ranks among its Ivy League peers in several categories.
