Ned Jacoby and his wife, "Bee," solved the dilemma we all have faced by deciding to finish their retirement by relocating from southern California. They picked Kendal's three-stage retirement community in Hanover and elected to buy a condo in the area while waiting about six years for Kendal to become available.
Ned reported to Ike Weed in the Drum: "Having never been back to Hanover for a reunion, the first surprise was how much things looked the same from our late 1930s days. Baker, Wheelock, the Commons and Main Street still feel familiar. But a look at a College map with its maze of new buildings skillfully worked into the landscape gives just a hint of how things have grown."
Among the things they especially like about the area are the relaxed driving conditions and the easy interpersonal relationships around Hanover. Getting their drivers licenses was a pleasure compared with the procedure in California. They enjoy talking to real people on the telephone instead of endless phone menus.
