The memorial service for Jack Faunce was appropriately held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Collinsville, Connecticut, on May 15. It had been the scene of baptisms and marriages of many of his children and grandchildren, the place where he and Donna were married January 5, 1986, and where he spent many volunteer hours. Bill Halsey and Ike Weed represented our class at the service. Jack had earned the 2003 Class Secretary of the Year Award from the College despite severe health problems that limited his mobility. Memorial gifts to Dartmouth for Jack received as of this writing include those from Bill Wotherspoon (Dartmouth class of 1940), Bud Hewitt (Dartmouth College Fund) and Stet Whitcher (Dartmouth Figure Skating Team).
At the mini-reunion in October Donna Faunce was made an associate member of the class of 1940, joining Anne Porter Berger, Crosbie MacMillen, Lorraine Williams, Marian Weinberg and Carla Manley. Except for one function (the writing of the news column in the Alumni Magazine), Donna has graciously agreed to serve as our class secretary. (Mrs. J.D. Faunce, 11 Overlook Drive, Canton, CT 06019-2022; 860693-8901). I was named to the post ofAlumniMagazine columnist.
The 167 members of the class extend sympathy to the families of '40s who have died: William R Watson Jr. (October 9, 2003), Les Nichols (January 8), Frederick Davidson (Janu-ary 10), Chester Garrison (February 10), Rowland Hall (February 15), Robert Lowdon (February 19), Creighton Holden (March 17) and Walter Kelly (March 24). Full obituaries will appear in future issues.
