It's late April as I write and word of an early spring in Hanover comes from class president Star Johnson: "It's been an unbelievable two-week stretch of instant late spring/early summer, which I'm sure we will pay for soon." Star also reports that by now the text "In memory of President John G. Kemeny, from the Class of 1970" should be etched into one of the two granite slab benches in front of the new Kemeny-Haldeman Center. The benches were selected after much debate by the executive committee as a class gift to the College (instead of the traditional class project which, given our class finances, seemed out of reach). Star sees Tom Peisch's son Andrew '10 every day at lacrosse practice, where Star's been helping out with the men's program as a volunteer assistant coach, and also sees Tom and his wife, Alice, at almost every game. "Being with the team has been a blast—it's a great group of kids and we are competitive with the best programs in the country." Star adds that he's hoping to see some '7os this fall at the Princeton game, November 22 at Princeton, if not sooner.

"As the notes for the class of 1970 march inexorably toward the front of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine it is disturbing to see that there is no news from the 750 or so classmates who receive it," writes Bill Wilson. "Amen," say Scott Holland and I. Willy suggests, "Perhaps it's time for you guys to start making up stories about classmates, publishing them and seeing if anyone is paying attention. You could have T.J. Rodgers chairing the California Democratic Party, Trip Dorkey becoming a priest, etc." Such a wag!

motorcycle to work."

On a final note, Terry Shumaker, former head of the National Education Association of New Hampshire and U.S. ambassador to Trinidad, has become a shareholder of the firm Bernstein Shur in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Back to you for a few issues, Scott, with hopes for an influx of summer news.
