John Sheldon has lived in Kansas City since 1997, practicing radiation oncology (specializing in prostate cancer). Currently he is the president of the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City and involved with local efforts to address health disparities.

A resident of Durham, North Carolina, for 16 years, Betsy Booth has been a school social worker for an elementary school for 14 years. She reports that every day is “interesting!” She sees Karen Patton Alexander every couple of months in the hallways at her school, where Karen is a parent. Steve Young works as an eighth-grade counselor in the same school district and they try to run into each other as often as they can. Betsy recently saw Steve Lough at a meeting of the Dartmouth Club of the Piedmont, where he is very active. Betsy runs into Dawn Kleinman and Andy Cohen ’85 at times since they live in Carrboro, North Carolina, and have two girls in the schools. So many Dartmouth ’87s in North Carolina—it really is a small world!

Peter Southam has lived in Bethel, Maine, for seven years where he teaches biology and chemistry at Gould Academy and coaches mountain biking and road cycling. He gets to ski a lot, both alpine and Nordic, throughout the winter. He is considering opening a bike shop in Bethel. Peter and Sarah Bayard have been married for 21 years and have kids Samantha, a sophomore at Gould, and Max, in sixth grade. Peter and Sarah get to occasionally see John and Kate ’88 MacGreggor, who live nearby.

Scott Rafshoon returned to his hometown of Atlanta in 1991 and has lived there ever since. His wife, Ellen Glaser Rafshoon ’86, who is not from Atlanta, brought them there so she could go to graduate school and they’ve never left. They now have sons Michael, 14, and Joseph, 9. Scott has been at McKenna Long & Aldridge since he graduated from law school in 1996. Scott recently saw Hollie Manheimer at a Dartmouth Club of Georgia event. Scott is good at pointing out an ever-growing group of ’87s on Facebook. It has almost been as fun as reading Class Notes as a way to keep up with people.

Nathan J. Smallwood has resided in Lebanon, Ohio, the past six years. For the last year he has been the director of institutional advancement for the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, Ohio. Taking on this critical job Nathan came out of “retirement” as stay-at-home dad to boys Jack, 4, and Wolfie, 2.

Liza (Rebetz) MacKinnon has lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts, with her husband, Dan, for about 15 years. They have kids Megan, 14, Emma, 11, and Connor, 5. She worked as a market research analyst until Emma was a baby; now she’s home with the kids and doing volunteer work in the schools. They have a lot of fun in the beach town with boating and sailing readily available and head up north to Vermont for skiing quite often.

Liza just saw Mary Smyers-Kaufman to celebrate her birthday with a gourmet meal prepared by her husband, Seth Kaufman (Penn ’88). They have kids Sam and Anna. Liza also reported on seeing many Dartmouth friends at the beautiful October wedding of Stephanie Mullins to Jonah Wine. Dan Connell, Kim Sergio, Maurice Holmes, Mike McGinn, Laura Kennedy, Shannon Finnegan, Debbi Jayne-Seaver, Tracey Taylor, Mary Kaufman, Dan Keane and Dave Foster were all there.

That’s all I can fit in our 600-word limit... more next issue! Sorry to those of you who will have to wait until we report on you then.
