A giant of a Dartmouth man has left us with memories that span five decades. He was president of the Alumni Association of New York City, the 25th reunion chairman and served several times as president of the '41 class. After the war he began a long and successful career in publishing and advertising. He worked for many years at Time Inc. and Fortune magazine, after which he founded his own advertising agency. His firm handled such clients as JPMorgan, Swiss Air, E.F. Hutton and The Wall Street Journal. He created and named the long-running career seminar, "Is There Life After Dartmouth?" where senior students received advice from their elders. To complete the picture of this talented man, we should include his surviving wife, Karla, plus three surviving sons: Jim '78, Bill and Don. At Dartmouth he was a sociology major, graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received a masters at New York University and was a captain in the Army Air Corps during WWII, serving as a fighter control director in the Pacific theater. Bruce Friedlich died peacefully on November 14, 2008, at his home on Shelter Island, New York.
