Greetings! I write these notes from poolside in Orlando, Florida— and I bet that about the time you read this a lot of you will be wishing you were poolside in Orlando, too.

A few reports rolled in recently, but I wanted to start with some news of a personal nature to me. Paresh Mital will be getting married in early April, which will leave only one of the eight class of '92 guys from 51 Lebanon Street unattached (that would be your intrepid class secretary). As of these notes the boys were looking forward to a February weekend in Vegas to, ahem, prepare Paresh for married life and, of course, the nuptials, which will take place in Los Angeles. Congratulations, Paru!

One of my favorite things about being the class secretary is that, with some regularity, I get updates from my boy "Crazy" Eddie Hopkins. His most recent submission came in a few weeks ago: "After wrapping up some graduate work after the original market crash in 2001 I moved to San Diego, where I worked for three years for several small engineering and consulting companies. At one of them I met another alum, Charles Mac Vean '59, who is a retired sub commander and featured in the book Blind Man's Bluff—a great read. We have kept in touch, proving that the 'granite in your muscles and your brains' appears to last for generations— meanwhile, I am currently in Cambridge for a new position at Draper Labs. Saw a bit on TV about Tommy Clark's Grassroot soccer, where this guy apparently dribbled from Boston to D.C. as part of a fundraiser effort. Must have scratched up the ball pretty good! Tommy sent me back an e-mail saying he's in Hanover. I am getting used to wearing jackets and sweaters again and the rabid Boston sports fans here in Beantown."

We have a couple of first-timers writing in this month! Welcome back. The first came from Ajeya P. Joshi: "I've missed every Dartmouth reunion and have never written in to the class newsletter, so the information void is huge. Still, better late than never: I'm in San Antonio, Texas, working as a spine surgeon in an orthopedic group; my wife, Anjali, and I stay busy keeping up with our two kids, Om (6-year-old boy) and Seva (3-year-old girl). We were in India, including Mumbai, in October and were at the two hotels that were under siege recently, and hope that didn't affect the extended Dartmouth family. The New Year s resolution: to definitely not miss our Dartmouth 20th reunion!"

Also got a quick note from Alix JeongApfelberg, who said, "I am still living in the San Francisco Bay area and working at Cisco Systems. The big news this year was the arrival of baby number three (!)—Ryan. His 5-year-old siblings Ethan and Megan just adore him. Between having a new infant in the house and two kindergarteners, life is pretty busy! We love having visitors though, so please look us up whenever you are in town."

Finally, Jeff Strabone wrote in: “2008 was a busy year for me: I finished my Ph.D. in English, filed a patent application for a new voting system and became president of my neighborhood association and vice chairman of Community Board 6 in Brooklyn. I continue to write my blog jeffstrabone.blogspot.com and I recently joined the staff of 3 Quarks Daily, a group blog 3quarksdaily.com
