ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONORS

Sol Rockenmacher '60, DMS '61, has earned the 2008 Good Samaritan Award for Medicine & Healing from Pastoral Counseling Services, a nonprofit agency serving New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The Manchester, New Hampshire-based pediatric cardiologist was chosen for his compassion, dedication to improving quality of life for others and commitment to the New Hampshire community.

Gary Dicovitsky '72, former vice president for development and alumni relations at Caltech, is the new vice president for development at the Dallas-based Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest breast-cancer charity in the United States.

Douglas Chia '93, senior counsel and assistant corporate secretary at Johnson & Johnson, received the Rising Star Award from CorporateSecretary Magazine and was named to the 2008 list of "Best Lawyers Under 40" by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Denali Kemppel'96 has been appointed general counsel and vice president of Arctic Slope Regional Corp., a natural-resource company that represents eight Inupiat villages and about 5 million acres on the north slope of Alaska. Originally from Anchorage, she previously worked as an associate in the corporate department for Ropes and Gray LLP.

Robert Higgins '81, M.D., chair of the department of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, is serving a one-year appointment as president of United Network for Organ Sharing, which operates the national Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network.
