I am still working my way through all the news, so apologies for some delays here. Leading off, Paul Holzer and Allison Aboud recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary. Paul and Allison were married on May 25, 2008, at Rollins Chapel in Hanover, followed by a Dartmouth-filled party at the Woodstock Inn. There were quite a few ’00s in attendance, including John Phinney, Kevin Livelli, Chris Bradt, Casey Sixkiller, Ryan Sheehan, Libby Morgan Beri, Jennifer (Reilly) Pray, Lori (McMullen) Morlock, Ken Fischl and Ram Akilesh as well as Jake Shields ’99. With Ecuadorians meeting Kentuckians for the first time, mojitos and mint juleps were flowing all night. The couple spent almost the entire night on the dance floor with friends, dancing to a lot of salsa and merengue, and now live in Connecticut.

Josie (Lauer) Washuk became a mother on August 18, 2008! “Edward Joseph Washuk IV (my husband is Eddie III, a U of Maine alumnus) was born at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. We were especially proud, feeling very fortunate and blessed, because I delivered 100 percent naturally—no IV, no drugs, no epidural—a process that I wish every woman could experience as it is enlightening and invigorating. For the past two years I have worked in Chicago for a nonprofit called Organic School Project working to improve nutrition and combat the obesity epidemic in elementary schools through a holistic approach that includes gardening, mindfulness and eating all organic food. I recently left the organization to focus on being on a full-time mom.” Congrats Josie and Eddie!

Alison Sekikawa, Tu’06, married Adam Tyner, Tu’06, at the Breakfast on the Connecticut B&B in Lyme, New Hampshire, on July 5, 2008. The weather couldn’t have been better for the beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the Connecticut River. The couple met while students at Tuck and have since moved down to Boston, where they both work in consulting firms. Dartmouth was well represented at the wedding with Maribel Florez ’01, Elizabeth (Wald) Frank, Tom Harris, Michiyo Kawasaki, Montie Meyer, Heather Stewart, and Amy Tindell on hand to celebrate late into the night. Best wishes to the happy new couple!

The year 2008 got off to a crazy start for Janna (Merryfield) Annest and her husband! “On January 5, 2008, we brought home our newborn adopted daughter Riley. We only had three days notice so we didn’t have diapers, a carseat, a crib or any baby gear at all. Fortunately, my law firm was incredibly understanding about my taking a three-month maternity leave with literally no advance warning! I’m back to work now and I’m actually starting an adoption law practice at my firm. In my spare time, ha, I’m the president of the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Western Washington, which is a really fun way to stay in touch with the College and other alums.”

Brian Laibow and his wife, Galit, celebrated the birth of their daughter Sivan Hadari Laibow on September 12, 2008. Brian, Galit and Sivan are enjoying sleepless nights in Los Angeles, where Brian is a vice president in distressed debt at Oaktree Capital Management.

Lastly, did you know that our class’ attendance at our fifth-year reunion still holds the reunion records for number of alumni in attendance and percent of class in attendance? Mark the calendars now so we can continue the trend! Our 10th-year reunion will take place June 17-19, 2011, with the classes of 2001 and 2002 (and I cannot believe we’re already talking about the big 1-0)! Let me know if you’d be interested in helping to plan and organize… we are already on the search for volunteers!
