CLASS OF 1871

Frank E. Thompson was given the honorary degree of Doctor of Education by Rhode Island State College at the recent commencement. In presenting Dr. Thompson President Edwards said: "For thirty years an influential member of the State Board of Education; for twenty-nine years principal of the Rogers High School at Newport; eminent schoolmaster skilled in the theory and practice of education; scholarly and inspiring instructor; sympathetic and efficient administrator; wise guide of youth; honored and beloved teacher; you will live long in. the lives of hundreds of pupils."
