Prizes for research relating to Business Development and the Modern Trust company will be awarded by the Chicago Trust company according to an announcement made by the company's committee of award. One Triennial Research prize of $2500 will be made in the autumn of 1925 for the study which is considered to contain the greatest original contribution to knowledge and advancement in the field outlined. The award may be made for ah unpublished manuscript or it may be made for any paper published during the triennial period. No restrictions are made as to eligibility of contestants for this prize. The donors have in mind particularly officers of banks, business executives, practicing attorneys, members of teaching staffs and graduate students in the field of economics and finance.
In the autumn of 1924 two annual monograph prizes, one of $300 and one of $200 will be given for briefer studies, not exceeding 20,000 words in length. This competition is open to students registered in the American Institute of Banking, excepting officers of banks, and to employes of banks generally; to students in schools of commerce and law, and in departments of economics of colleges and universities. All papers submitted shall be in the hands of the Secretary of the Committee of Award not later than August 31 of the year in which the prize sought is offered.
The Committee of Award consists of Ralph E. Heilman, chairman, professor of Economics and Dean of the School of Commerce, Northwestern University, Chicago; Francis E. Baker, judge of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals, Chicago; Fred Q. Kent, vice-president of the Bankers Trust Company; New York City; Ralph Van Vechten, vicepresident of the Continental and Commercial National bank, Chicago; Harold G. Moulton, director of the Institute of Economics, Washington, D. C.; Henry H. Hilton, Ginn and Company, Chicago; and Leverett S. Lyon, secretary, professor of Economics and Dean of the School of Commerce and Finance, Washington University, St. Louis.
