Ben Ailing, who has been state senator for the last two years, was the Republican candidate for mayor of New Britain, Conn., at a recent election. He was defeated in a close vote. Ben had the misfortune of being an American and of belonging to the wrong church

The new address of M. B. Perkins is 3209 North Second St., Harrisburg, Pa. He is engaged in the insurance business.

The Secretary attended the meeting of the Association of Class Secretaries at Hanover on April 25 and 26. It was his first opportunity to see the secretaries inspiring one another. At the banquet the address by Mr. Parkhurst, a trustee of the College, was particularly instructive and impressive. As a result of discussions during the business meetings of the Association, the Secretary was led to favor a lump contribution from the class of 1902 for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, the cost of the individual subscriptions to be collected in the class tax. He also favors combining all class and various college taxes in one comprehensive tax —a proposition which commends itself on the basis of simplicity and convenience.

Particular attention should be given the very moderate but convincing recommendations of Mr. Chamberlin that alumni should not return to commencements with liquor. .Those who have considered this matter will share with Mr. Chamberlin the conviction that both the reputation of the College and the welfare of the undergraduate body will be greatly enhanced by a total abstinence during gala occasions when large numbers of alumni return to the campus. Our class historian, rereading the annals of our reunions, may be tempted to make a wry face at the Secretary.

Word has been received of the marriage early in May of G. W. Elderkin to Miss K. D. McKnight, a member of the faculty of Vassar College. The bride is a graduate of Vassar in the class of 1919, and received her doctor's degree at Radcliffe in 1922. The Secretary extends his heartiest congratulations.
