CLASS OF 1876
June 1931 Dr. Henry H. Piper

Early in April the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Dayton, Ohio, gave a dinner in honor of George Goodhue, M.D., the occasion being the completion of fifty years' residence by Dr. Goodhue in Dayton as general practitioner and surgeon. Stress was laid on his friendliness and serviceableness, his pioneering and skill in surgery, professionally acknowledged in various ways, and his college loyalty. He was the first in his region to perform the cataract operation, and intubation in cases of diphtheretic laryngitis. In 1910 he returned from Europe to practice bone grafting in accordance with the procedure introduced at St. Paul, Minn., by Sir Arbuthnot Lane in 1909.

Dr. Goodhue was and is one of the best liked men in the class; and he was the tallest. He has never lost his nickname of "Shorty."

A poem by L. C. Clark appears in the April issue (1931) of the American PoetryMagazine.
