DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS GETS EGYPTIAN BAS-RELIEF

A gift of a painting of the bas-relief of Amenophis IV from the Temple of Luxor in Egypt has recently been made to the Department of Fine Arts of the College. The picture is given anonymously through the artist, Joseph Lindon Smith. Mr. Smith's work is notable for his ability to give a "life-like" texture to his representations of Egyptian reliefs, and for his unusual appreciation of the color tones and relations which so deeply impress the visitor to Egypt. The picture will be hung in Culver Hall.
