For the Sportsmen Magazine, Carl E. Shumway has compiled The Sportsman's Chart of New Hampshire Ski Trails, 1933-34. It is a very complete chart, showing the nearest town, the name of the ski trail, locations, distances, length in miles, width in feet, maximum grade, vertical descent in feet, exposure, depth of snow needed, average length of season, and whether it is a trail for a novice, intermediate, or an expert skier.
From "Squeaks from the Golden Gate" we quote a paragraph, as so few in the class have an opportunity to see this interesting paper or these items of news recorded monthly by Secretary B. L. Wilson of San Francisco.
"Squeaks has been much in the dark- ingetting facts on our members' golfingability until this event. Our scout 'drug inthe score cards this time and—need we saymore than the following gross score:
PARLine Wilson '13—75
"There you have it! LINC WILSON 'l3,the original left-handed golfer, wins theprize, and the other seven admit that hedidn't chizzle (there are some Vermontersthat don't chizzle).
"The above returns have struck fireamong other Dartmouth men and nowsee our attached 'Colored Supplement' fordetails on golf at Stanford next Wednesday. At luncheon last Monday, we heardtht Line's 75 is at stake, but confidentiallywe put our money on just one man whomay be capable of beating him, our ownalumni councilor, 'Sawney' Reagan 'O9. Oh,yes, there are others coming up: Gray 'll,Root 'O4, Nigh '26, Townsend '23, Wallick '2l, McCrea 'l9, Evans 'OB, Tomfohrde 'l5, Wentworth 'O3, Townsend '94,Robinson 'l4, etc. Why, even any of uscould tackle that 118 score."
News from the West and New York evidently is arriving too late this month for the February issue, and, therefore, look for many items next month.
