The Dartmouth Corinthian Yacht Club, holder of the Eastern intercollegiate championship, defeated Harvard, 47 to 44, in a dual yachting match on the waters of Dorchester Bay, Boston, on May 12. The Green skippers, led by Robert H. Collins '35, scored a thrilling victory in the sixth and final race to pull out the match.

The Crimson yachtsmen won the first of the six final races and held their lead until Dartmouth gained a two-point advantage in the fifth contest, by scoring a slam.

In the last race, Bill Cudahy, Harvard's intercollegiate sailing champion, brought his dinghy across the finish line first, but the Green sailors captured three of the remaining five places and added another point to their margin. Dartmouth was represented in the match by a strong delegation of nine men, making up three crews and three substitutes. Commodore Jack Odell '35 was unable to compete with the Corinthians in the first intercollegiate yachting match which has ever been held during the college year.
