CORNELL FINISHES STRONG

The Cornell contest on January 20 was another nip-and-tuck affair up to the point of 35-all, but the Green attack bogged down in the final minutes, and the Ithacans won out, 40 to 35. After a slow start, which recalled the first half of the Penn game, the Indians wiped out Cornell's lead and managed to stay ahead until the period ended, 21 to 19. The Red five came back with a rush at the start of the second half, but a pair of baskets by Kraszewski and Bonniwell's foul toss were sufficient to even things at 36-26. Cornell again forged ahead on baskets by McGraw and Downer, but Miller's two free throws and a floor goal by Edwards once more tied the count. Alternate baskets brought the score up to 35-all, from which point on the game was all Cornell's. Bonniwell captured scoring honors for the evening with 12 points. Prior to its trio of league games, the Green five defeated Providence, 37 to 25, and returned to Hanover from its Christmas trip with two victories in three starts. After defeating the Seventh Regiment five in New York, 41 to 27, the Indians were outclassed by C. C. N. Y„ 42 to 26. The second vacation victory was won over the Stamford University Club, 33 to 21.
