COACH Chris Clark's tennis team continued to bludgeon the opposition. For the second year in a row, the women tennis players posted a fall record of 8-0. They also moved up a notch from third to second in the New England tennis tournament. "A highlight of the season was coming in ahead of Yale in the New England tournament," said Clark. "We hadn't come close to Yale in three years." Dartmouth generally plays against New England colleges in the fall and competes against Ivy League schools during the spring.

The team recorded six shoutouts in its eight victories. Only Boston College and Boston University broke the shutout string, and in both cases Dartmouth won by 7-2 scores. "We won 68 out of 72 matches, which is probably a Dartmouth record," said Clark. "And we lost one of those four matches because a player had to default because of an injury." Dartmouth's topranked singles players is Wendy Wasson, a junior who has played in the number one position for three years. She reached the semifinals of the New England tournament and has been ranked fifth in Northern California. She spent last summer playing in tournaments in Europe.

"I think we'll be stronger this spring than we were last year," said Clark. "I feel we'll have a real good crack at Yale, although Harvard is much stronger than last year. And Princeton is untouchable."
