We compliment the Outing Club on their success in landing the Dartmouth ski team on the slopes of Mt. Rainier for the Olympic trials. Wfe compliment Coach Schniebs and the team on their good showing reported in other columns of this Magazine. We are still envious of Sam Barnes '07, who took part in arranging for those Olympic trials at his "Park" in the State of Washington and who did so nobly in supervising the entertainment of our eastern champions. Hats off to a job well done although it did cut us out of a visit with Coach Schniebs and the boys. California's High Sierra, with 140 inches of snow on the level in April, did not seem to offer the ski team any inducement for even a side trip this year.
We were successful, however, in getting N. L. Goodrich, Dartmouth librarian and editor of the Eastern Ski Annual, to visit us en route to Mt. Ranier. He took a few days off at Norden, one of the Sierra Club's winter homes, and reviewed the terrain where many Dartmouth alumni in these parts keep up their skiing. At a regular weekly luncheon in honor of this ski enthusiast, a good turnout stayed late to enjoy discussion of Baker Library matters and Hanover's winter sports, with special attention given to this year's ski team.
See you all in 1937 when the Dartmouth champions may again meet the West in snow sports? ..... Why not, as a part of that great exposition (you will hear about it) celebrating the opening of the Golden Gate and San Francisco Bay Bridges.
