There was a small but enthusiastic gathering at the annual dinner in Boston this winter. Those present were L. S. Cox, G. C. Richards, C. A. Weston, Philip Young, A. H. Cummings and friend, Louis H. Richards, and Carl H. Richardson. Weston and Richards came down from Springfield and had a comfortable room on the second floor, where the class ran off its preliminaries to the banquet.
Fred M. Weston has reported his new address as 504 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles.
At a meeting of the board of trustees of Dow Academy at its last annual meeting, Carl H. Richardson was elected president of the board.
Arthur T. Smith, formerly of the law firm of Bartlett, Jennings, & Smith, is now associated as counsel with the firm -of Elliott & Smith, the Smith being son of our' classmate and located 10 Post Office Square, Boston.
President and Mrs. Richards enjoyed a few weeks' vacation at Southern Pines, N. C., this spring and are now at Longwood Towers, Brookline.
Your Secretary spent a few days with Dr. Charles A. Weston and wife over February 22. A spirited mid-winter reunion was held at their home, when Louis ft Richards, Katherine Potter, and Miss Powd augmented the festivities.
The class will note with sadness the death of Mrs. Jennie Trecartin Fox, widow of Everett P. Fox of Woburn, Mass., on May 6th. Those of us who attended the 25th reunion will remember that Mr. and Mrs. Fox were present as cruests of our adopted classmate, Dr. David M. Trecartin. Mrs. Fox added much enjoyment to our reunion with her beautiful singing. She was well known in musical and club circles in and around Boston. Both Mr. and Mrs. Fox attended several of our local round-ups at the University Club. Services were held at her home the following Saturday, and burial was in East Washington, N. H.
The class learns with deep regret the passing of Mrs. Philip Young on Sunday, May 2, at her home, 8 Louisburg Square in Boston. A native Californian, born March 4, 1870, at Sacramento, daughter of David Almon and Evelyn (Burke) Bender, she spent her early years there and in San Francisco, but later attended St. Ursula's School at Elmira, N. Y., and graduated from Emerson School of Oratory (now Emerson College), Boston.
Mr. and Mrs. Young were married in San Francisco May 24, 1909, and they have since lived in Boston and Nahant. Mrs. Young was active in church and social club work, and her gardens were considered among the finest along the North Shore. Simple services were conducted at her home the following Wednesday by Rev. Russell H. Stafford of the Old South church, and committal services were held the following day at the family plot in Dover, N. H.
Margaret Young was always interested in our class functions, and indeed a great help in arranging and carrying them out to a successful end. Those of us who were privileged to attend a preliminary reunion gathering at the Youngs' home some years ago well recollect what a charming dinner and entertainment hostess she was on that occasion. Sincere sympathy of the class family goes out to our classmate.
