SINCE THIS is the first issue of the news- letter since June we might give the results of last year's competition. In the fraternity field, it was all Deke. They ran off with the grand-total cup for general all-around point scoring and also captured several lesser trophies. Sigma Chi, winner for the past two years, was the runner-up, quite a way back of the fast-moving Dekes. In the Dorm competition Streeter eked out a close win over Middle Fayer, a matter of one-tenth of a point separating the two teams. Streeter's win following close on the heels of Gile's win last year rather upsets the traditional theory that the socalled "Gold Coast" boys are pushovers!

Last year the Intramural Department expanded its program to a large extent, running a very successful bridge tourney, a sailing program, and other events such as dorm tennis matches. The Department once again is going to attempt a series of bridge tournaments and will endeavor to keep the high standard set last year. In connection with this the Department would like publicly to express its great appreciation to Bill Hoffman '32 who was of immeasurable assistance last year. We all wish Bill the best of luck in his new position at Montclair Academy.

So far this year touch football has taken the spotlight, and the schedule is now nearing completion. The following teams have reached the finals: Sigma Chi, Delta Tau Delta, S. A. E., Phi Psi, Phi Delt, Pi Lam, Psi U., Alpha Delt, and Zeta Psi. The Zetes were the winners of last year's championship and so far have flashed a nice passing attack, featuring the throwing of varsity baseball pitcher Hal Wonson '40. The Alpha Delts also look rather dangerous, featuring two ex-footballers in Jack Schrage '39 and Dick Wyman '39. The S. A. E. team has hit the high for scoring so far with a 30-1 a win which eliminated Phi Psi in the first round. Class football will soon start and then the traditional graduate-school league will start.
