Will ride into office on the introduction made last June by Colton, whom I know we are all sorry to have retire. So here goes with the news at hand.

Among the nineteen who attended the last class supper in New York on May 18 was Dick Lauterback, who at that time was working as managing editor and "Jack of all trades" for Grantland Rice's "Golf" Magazine. Seen on the streets of New York about this time was Dick Millard. Dick is a buyer for Furchgott Kohn in Jackson-ville, which means a day or two in New York each month; and he flies both ways.

June found several of us attracted to Hanover. Three were at Commencement to observe the graduation of brothers: Doug Ley—brother Allyn, Dick Hirschland —brother Herbert, and your secretary brother Robert. Bob Naramore was reuning with the 1934s—whetting his appetite for our Fifth next June. Do you know Bob has a young daughter? Hank Hawkins was in Hanover one evening. Idea! Summer is over. Time for dreaming about the next one. Keep that trip to Hanover foremost in your thoughts. We had what must have been one of the largest groups at Hanover Holiday, being represented by the Niles, Cushmans and Ralph Moran. The latter is still with Gulf Refining Co., and living in Llanerth, Pa. Ran into Nick Jacobson and his wife in the Hanover Coffee Shop. He is living across the river tilling the Vermont soil and writing we know not what as yet.

June found 1935 matrimonial-minded. Sid Simons, who has been in the wholesale hardware business in Boston since he left Hanover, married Estelle Low on the 4th. At home, 40 Longwood Ave., Brookline. Gene Burnkraut and Beatrice Andersen were married on the 7th in Auburndale, Wisconsin, and were seen in Hanover soon afterwards. Gene has been doing graduate work at the University of Vermont during the summer, and we assume has returned to his teaching and coaching in Wisconsin. Alistair Ritchie took time out from Bell Telephone Laboratories on the 9th to marry Jean McGee at Mt. Vernon, New York, where they are now living at 300 Hayward Avenue. To Bermuda and Nassau for their honeymoon went Harry Griffith and spouse, the former Eleanor Snyder, following their marriage on the 14 th. Harry sells pianos in Newark. On the 24th the bonds were tied between Herb Stearns and Margaret, "Ig," Burr. Their honeymoon included a visit with Randy and Phoebe Stowell in Dixville, and they verified what Bob Roundey reported about this same time: that young John Stowell shows signs of great promise. On the 28th, Jack (Gus) Davis to Jayne Elinor Shields at Rutland, Vermont. So far as we know Gus is still teaching and coaching at the High School there. Did Jim West get married as rumored?

In Don King's long write-up last June the editors failed to mention a daughter, Judith Louise, born May 4th. Congratulations also to Bill and Jan Moran who became parents on June 16th of William Henry Jr. The only comment to reach me was that 31,0 weeks he showed an amazing amount of intelligence. The month closed with the announcement in Boston of the engagement of Carolyn Cosby of Brookline to Steve Dorsey. Steve is still an investment banker with The First Boston Corporation.

Link Washburn, having passed his Ph.D. exams with honors, got off with Tahoe on July 3d for Victoria Island and the Arctic. Link is back at Yale where he will be writing his thesis during the next year or so. He has kept under cover the fact he was made a Trustee of Clark School about a year ago.

More weddings. Gardy Spring to Kardine Wallace in the Syracuse University chapel on July Ist. "There is a new job to go along with all else—with the Syracuse Glass Co." Plainfield, N. J. lawyer Carl Crane to Marjorie Fountain on the Bth. At home, 224 E. 7th Street, Plainfield. Howie Rowe to Doris Dexter in Philadelphia on the 11th. We believe Howie to be with the production department of Pacific Print Works in Lawrence, Mass. Frank Richard (Dick) Meyers to Florence Schoech at Dallas, Texas, on the 17th. The Tear Bag anticipated AlClark's Wedding in July, but here again no details have arrived Highlight near the close of July: The announcement on the 28th of the engagement of Ruth Stevens of East Orange, N. J., to George Colton August 5th saw lawyer Fritz Beebe married in the Garden City (Utica, New York) to Liane Petzl-Basny of Munich and New York. On the same day in the chapel in South Hadley, Mass., Rocky Rockwell was married to Ruth Jeannette Adams. Fiance Colton was among the ushers. The Rockwells are in Princeton where Rocky divides his time between teaching and thesis writing.

The rumor that Bill Clark is now head football coach at Exeter has been confirmed. Another note along this line: Frank White is now Director of Athletics at New Hampton School in New Hampshire.

Bob Roundey, one of my star roving reporters, caught a glimpse during the summer of Don and Ibba Hagerman on the Sheraton Roof in Boston in company with Bill Adams and a friend. Don has returned to Deerfield after being at Harvard Summer School working toward a Master's in Education. We understand Bill's golf game has been A-1 of late.

Bill Bradt out in Milwaukee, is a member of the general insurance firm of W. C. Bradt & Son, and also Assistant Secretary of the Beacon Federal Savings and Loan Ass'n. Last year Bill was Treasurer of the Wisconsin Alumni Ass'n. Living outside the city with his parents, "a gentleman farmer—developing muscle for our Fifth," Bill is assisting me by being a Regional Secretary. We are trying to establish a group of these, so do not be surprised if someone in your locality tries to pump you for a bit of news or to get you out for a local 1935 gathering. Some are already under way. Hall Colton tells us that there is to be a Dartmouth party after the Navy game, October 14th, at the Hotel Belvedere in Baltimore and that Art Flinner, Roy Reuther and himself have appointed themselves receptionists for '35 Larry Sommers is organizing another party. In Hanover—at the Inn's Ski Hut—after the Lafayette game on October 21st—cocktails and buffet supper for '35ers and friends tariff very low. Larry would appreciate a postal if you plan to be there. Limitations of space, as close as I can estimate, force me to save the rest till next month. So, till then—

Secretary-Chairman, 82 Devonshire St., Boston, Mass.
