WITH FALL JUST AROUND the corner the activities of the past few months in the Washington area had best be dusted off and brought to light ere they are buried forever. One of the highlights of the summer season was the annual picnic held as usual at Bay Ridge. Alumni and their families began to arrive as early as ten in the morning and what with the class of '33 winning the Softball game (as usual), the very excellent swimming and the fine dinner, everyone enjoyed himself. The singing wasn't quite up to par, inasmuch as half of the quartet failed to negotiate the dangers of Bladensburg and didn't show up. The following were there, with their respective wives, gals, etc.: Warren Kendall '99, Stirling Wilson '16, Mai Halliday '28, Duke Barto '29, Paul Woodbridge '29, Bill Brown '3O, Ben Burch '32, Sam Englander '32, Paul Fox '32, Bill Kendall '32, Win Hobbs '33, Bob Kay '33, Larry Reeves '33, Page Worthington '33, Stu Barber '34, Baxter Prescott '39, Dave Boyle '40, Joe Huber '40, and DeWitt Jones '40.

On the athletic front: Captain Prescott '39 reports a very unsuccessful season for the softball team. In several engagements with the Telephone Company's junior varsity, the alumni were unfortunate enough to lose, and had to pay for the refresh- ments. The play of Bill Woodruff '31, Bill Gray '36, and Bill Yelverton '36 was outstanding, but the managerial strategy left something to be desired.

It is not too early for the alumni in this section to begin to lay plans to attend the Dartmouth Night party scheduled for November 6. Although actual arrangements have not been completed, please make a note on your calendar and make it a point to be there.

Odds and ends: one of the best of our monthly talks was the one given by Stacy May, statistician at OPM—new men in town who are not on our mailing list are requested to get in touch with Page Worthington '33 at MEtropolitan 9900—welcome newcomers at our weekly luncheons are as follows; Prof. Dankert, Nat Burleigh '11, Welles Baxter '12, Herman Davidson '14, Bob Harvey '16, George Hull '18, Bob Carpenter '25, Frank McEntee '29, Bob Monahan '29, John Gilmore '31, Hank Dericks '33, Fran Hoge '33, John Meek '33, Manny Sprague '33, Don Miller '37, Lew Moorman '37, Colin Churchill '39, Bill Remington '39, and Bob Davidson '41— attendance at the luncheons during the summer has been the best in history and we hope that the alumni will drop around during the next several months and hear about the teams and other activities in Hanover. The Annapolis Hotel, every Tuesday at 12:30 P.M.
