What may properly be called the Dartmouth College Eighties Club, the original conception, I understand, of Emerson Rice, '87, had its usual annual get-together banquet after the Dartmouth-Harvard football game at the Boston City Club, October 18th last.
Originally only alumni of the eighties were members but the number of graduates between 1879 and 1890 who were interested or could attend this annual festivity having greatly diminished, graduates of other years were invited to join the members of the club this year. Dr. David N. Blakely, '89, was active in rounding up alumni for this occasion.
Your Secretary being the oldest graduate of the eighties, took the names of those present and promised to report same to the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE, the same being as follows:
Henry H. Piper, '76, Alfred E. Watson, '83, James W. Newton, '86, F. B. Sanborn, '87, Herbert E. Gage, '87, Edward A. Burnett, '87, Fred T. Dunlap, '87, Harry M. Frost, '89, David N. Blakely, '89, Charles A. Hardy, '90, John F. McDonald, '90, Daniel B. Ruggles, '90, M. Victor Safford, '90, and Frank E. Rowe, '91.
The meeting was very ably presided over by one of those invited to participate in the banquet, John F. McDonald, who called upon each graduate present to make remarks or give reminiscences of undergraduate days or life activities since.
Although it was not possible to celebrate a Dartmouth victory, a Harvard victory was due after seven years of defeat.
