Fourteen persons gathered together at the Class of '96 dinner at the Boston University Club after the Dartmouth-Harvard game. Seated at the table in a private dining room were: President Richards and Mrs. Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Couch, Judge Louis Cox, Miss Dorothy Cox and guest, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lakeman, Dr. Hiram Johnson, Seldon Staples, Ike Cox, Phil Young and guest. The occasion afforded such pleasure that the hour of parting came all too soon. Messages of cheer were sent to those who were accustomed to be with us but were unable to attend this year.

It seemed mighty good to sit beside Ike Cox and hear him tell of his experience in the Spanish speaking portions of North and South America. He was consulting professor during October at Dartmouth on subjects concerning Spanish-American history. In January he is to give a course of lectures, in Spanish, at the University of Chile on The Evolution of North American Democracy.

Ben and Mrs. Couch spent July and August at the "Wentworth by the Sea" as has been their custom for several years. Ben had to return to Concord several times during the summer as he is Chairman of the Draft Board for that area.

We missed Herb Warden and his daughter at the get-together. Warden and a group of friends have been accustomed to spend the middle of October hunting in the North woods. The earlier date of the Harvard game made it impossible to be present.

The Boston Herald of October 25th contained the following notice concerning our classmate:

"Dr. Isaac J. Cox, professor-emeritus of La tin-American history at Northwestern University and visiting professor at Dartmouth College, will address the Saturday luncheon of the Twentieth Century Association. His subject will be American Solidarity Background and Purpose."

Helen Weston, wife of our classmate Chuck Weston, passed away at her home in Springfield, Mass., on November third after a long illness. President Richards represented '96 at the funeral and sent flowers in the name of the class. Helen has for many years been a regular attendant at our Class Reunions and gatherings where her high spirits and charm added much to the pleasure of these occasions. Her presence was greatly missed at our Reunion in June. The Class extends deepest sympathy to Chuck in his great loss.
