Marks came out today. Dejection....elation. ...stoic acceptance....mumbles of frustration....firm-voiced ego....expansive remarks....and everywhere the sounds and evidence of a new regime in this new semester. Marks also came out in the form of Intramural fraternity and dormitory standings. Kappa Kappa Kappa and Richardson, in their respective leagues, are leading the others by substantial margins. In a sense we turn over a new leaf with the rest of the College in that many new sports are begun. Interclass and graduate school basketball, the College championships in basketball, College open foul-shooting contest, College open boxing, and the dormitory and fraternity winter carnivals are the most immediate events.

This year the Department is fortunate in being able to put a new slant on the swimming meet. As has been announced in TheDartmouth, Smith College is sending a specialty aquatic team of twenty girls here to perform for a benefit group. The variety of this program will be increased by our fraternity and dormitory swimming finals. This should be instrumental, not only in setting a new attendance record, but also in gaining greater and more enthusiastic interest in non-varsity swimming.

My earlier speculations as to the winner of fraternity boxing were upset when actual statistics were compiled. Kappa Kappa Kappa barely outpointed the Phi Delts to win.

At the half-way mark in bridge Sigma Chi is definitely leading. I might also become a "raconteur" here and say that our potential bridge champions played the faculty team the other night and fared none too well.

Fraternity standings to date are as follows: Kappa Kappa Kappa, 97.7; Phi Delta Theta, 71.0; Sigma Chi, 70.2; Delta Tau Delta, 69.2; Delta Kappa Epsilon, 66.9; Psi Upsilon, 66.2; Chi Phi, 64.8; Phi Kappa Psi, 64.5; Kappa Sigma, 63.2; Sigma Nu, 60.7; Beta Theta Pi, 58.7; Sigma Alpha Epsilon, 55.4; Phi Gamma Delta, 54.4; Delta Upsilon, 49.5; Alpha Delta Phi, 44.9; Theta Chi, 44.7; Pi Lambda Phi, 43.8; Phi Sigma Kappa, 42.1; Gamma Delta Chi, 38.8; Zeta Psi, 36.6; Theta Delta Chi, 35.8; Sigma Phi Epsilon, 29.3.

With basketball and hockey finals still in the offing, I leave you until April.
