A GAY AND festive gathering of well over A 500 persons attended the annual Spring Party of the Chicago association held in the Boulevard Room of the Stevens Hotel on the evening of April 19. For fun and entertainment it was a party that left nothing to be desired. Financially it came close to breaking all records if, indeed, such was not the fact. Final results in this respect are not all in so we can't say definitely. In any event our scholarship fund profited handsomely-a great tribute to the entertainment committee and its assistants, particularly as they didn't have the Glee Club as an added attraction this year.
Throwing bouquets and pinning medals after such an occasion is always dangerous for fear of overlooking someone, but we're forced to take the chance. Starting with the ladies, Alberta Embree ('2l by virtue of her husband, Bill) heads the list. As chairman of the ladies' committee she and her co-workers played no small part in the success of the evening. Our hats are off to them all!
Jack Wright '33, chairman of the entertainment committee, did a grand job. Further words of appreciation would be superfluous. Grateful acknowledgment is also due Fred Uhlemann '3O, in charge of tickets, Justin Stanley '33, who handled the raffle of the two trips to Sun Valley and Frank Hardinge '3l, in charge of arrangements. Bill Walrath '35 did a fine job as publicity manager. We hope the many others who contributed freely of their time and efforts will overlook our failure to mention their names, as space will not allow it.
Word from the Alumni Records Office as well as information gained from other sources indicates that there are a number of newcomers among the ranks of alumni in this vicinity. Among them are R. A. Andrews '2B, R. C. Ewing '37, T. H. Harbaugh '35, Charles Kligerman '37, C. L. MacKinnon '3B, H. A. Stockwell '4O, Lt. C. L. Sweney '23 and R. D. Van Zant 'lO. Some of these men have already made themselves known and the others are cordially invited to do so.
Tentative plans are under way for the customary association golf tournament to be held sometime in July. At this time of year we also begin to look forward to the annual picnic at Louis Leverone's farm in August. These are two events that should be on the "must" list of all local alumni. With this thought in mind we take our leave until next fall.
