IN THE NORMAL COURSE of events, the annual dinner came along on April 8, and some fifty-odd members convened in the hope that possibly the "steamroller" had acquired a fresh technique in proposing and electing a new slate of officers. However they were doomed to disappointment for there were no innovations except a faint note of pleading in the voice of Eck Hiestand 'lO (president-elect), when he asked for further nominations to the office. Unfortunately all present were well trained and no names were offered from the floor.

The results of the nominating committee's "blitzkrieg" for 1941-42 officers are as follows:

President, Eck Hiestand '10; vice president, John Lyman '2B; vice president, Bob Sands '33; corresponding sec'y, Walter Douglas '31; recording sec'y, Bob Morris '36; treasurer, Keat Coffey '33; asst. sec'y, Bill McMurtrie '38; asst. treas., Rudy Pacht '35.

The very worthwhile feature of the evening was our guest, and representative of the college, E. Gordon Bill, who gave a fine address on "Educating for Leisure." The material in his talk was very new to the group and brought out a discussion on the various points which lasted long into the night.

Rounding out the evening were songs and music with Brian Robie 'l2 at the piano and Gob Desmaras '26 doing the leading. Gob dropped in on us from his San Francisco stamping grounds and did a grand job.

On April 10, Dean Bill went to San Diego where the Dartmouth men in that section of the state laid aside their vocations and avocations to attend a luncheon at the Cuyumaca Club. With Vance Dickerman '3l, manager of the club, acting as host, there were present Hayward Rolfe 'O4 visiting from Newton, Mass., Chick Currier 'OB and son Warren Jr. from way down in Imperial, Paul Fellows in from La Mesa, Tom Chambers '23 and his father taking time off from ranching at Escondido, Ray Rutherford 'l4 of Encinitas, Tex Morris 'l2 and Leonard Manley 'l3 representing La Jolla, and Charlie Doerr '32 and Bill Jennings 'O7 of San Diego. The fathers of Ed Self and Victor Morgan— now in college—also were there to hear about Hanover.

On the schedule for the month of May is a proposed visit to Redlands to pay our respects to Zeeb Gilman '63, Dartmouth's oldest living graduate, on his hundredth birthday which is May 13 th.

The roll call for the annual dinner includes—Vic Salinger 'oo, Hugh Sanborn 'O2, Dave Bradley 'O3, Dr. A 1 Hill 'O4, Dr. Tubby Laton 'O6, Dick Merrill 'OB, Jim Norton 'OB, Kid Richardson 'OB, Max Bonter 'O9, Jack Glynn 'O9, Ed Martin 'O9, Malcolm Bissell 'lO, Eck Hiestand 'io, Sam Hobbs 'l2, Brian Robie 'l2, Ray Bennett 'l3, Bob Thieme 'l6, Jim Durkee 'l7, Russ Cotner '2O, Zenas Forbush '2O, Zack Jordan '2O, Furb Haight '2l, Buck Perry '22, C.
