Because of the War, the annual meeting of Secretaries, Class Agents and Class Treasurers could not conveniently have been held in Hanover. As a result, a double shuffle was developed by which sessions were divided between Boston and New York.

Your correspondent attended the New York meeting to make sure that 1933 was in the swim. We were ably abetted by George Theriault, Fund Assistant and Secretary-Chairman-to-be, Mannie Sprague, representing the Connecticut alumni, and Howie Schuemann representing the Circulo Espagnol de Cleveland.

We had hoped to see General H. F.Mackey of the Alumni Fund Army, but he must have been off on maneuvers—and the maneuvers could not have been in the vicinity of the Dartmouth Club. We were glad to hear from A. Dickerson that Senor Mackey is doing a fine job and that the '33 boys seem to have taken the fish-hooks from their pockets. After reading of the superb response of the men in service, those of us who are left could hardly do otherwise. REMEMBER—the Alumni Fund is just starting, but we have to do better and we want to accumulate a nest egg early in the drive. GET IT UP NOW!

Dartmouth is playing a big part in the War. The College is proud that its men have taken their places so promptly and in such numbers. It is hoped that a complete record of each alumnus will be available. So, be sure to let us know (by writing either to me or to Miss Charlotte E. Ford, Alumni Records Office, Hanover) about your term of service, your promotions, your decorations, your courts-martial and your dishonorable discharges.

Don't forget that pictures are a part of the War Record. Some time ago we asked you to send on shots of yourself in uniform. So far, we have reaped a magnificent harvest of ONE picture—and that indirectly. If you can make it a group job, so much the better. (Two is a group.) We'd give anything for a snap of Foley surrounded by sloe-eyed Hawaiians or Clark lolling on the quarter deck of the good ship Shangri La.

Since writing the foregoing paragraph we have received a clipping from the Newark News which proves that Bro. Foley has been spending his time to more advantage than we have indicated. The clipping:

"Hawaii must be the land of romance when a Honolulu girl bowls over a heart-hardened bachelor like Ensign Edward J. Foley Jr. of South Orange.

"Eddie's been stationed in Hawaii a year and was smitten there with Joan Poole, daughter of Mrs. John Elston Poole and the late Mr. Poole of Honolulu. He called his parents via the overseas telephone and with the aid of the San Francisco operator, traced them from New Mexico, getting to them in Pittsburgh.

"The engagement was announced at a party Saturday night and the wedding is planned for March 20 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Chapel, Honolulu. Joan, who was brought up on the island, is a graduate of Mills College, Cal."

How's the poi, kids?

John Chisholm, of Monument Beach, Mass. and erstwhile member of the Bourne Kiwanis Club has been called for preliminary training in the Army Air Corps at Tufts. He joined the enlisted reserve last December and for the past several months has been working on defense projects at Trinidad, B.W.I., and Camp Edwards, Mass.

The Edwin H. Jacksons of 3544 Kent St., Ft. Worth, announce the arrival there on February 22 of Carol Jeanne Jackson.

Congratulations and best wishes to all concerned.
