For a short while I had great visions of not having to write this column this month. As the deadline for articles in Class News is the tenth of each month, and as I was not able to return to school until the twelfth, I thought I was safe. However, since the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is a superefficient outfit, nothing ever slips by unnoticed, so here it is. Under the existing conditions I know you will excuse the brevity.
The first Newsletter has been mailed out to all members of the class, and a great response in letters and in the payment of dues has resulted. This is very encouraging indeed, and, as usual, the '46s are proving themselves a great group. In fact, the COSO office was so flooded with letters that they sent an urgent request for the removal of same.
The Newsletter was not completely as- sembled until about midnight of the last day of the winter semester. Had it not been for the aid rendered by a few loyal '46 Crosby men, namely Tom Burnap, Wayne Frerichs, Rod Beach, and Clark Judge, the Newsletter never would have been completed on schedule. Papers were scattered knee-deep on the floor, typewriters were taking an awful beating, and two staplers were broken in the process, but somehow the Newsletter was assembled.
News from '46 this month comes from all over the nation. Though we have yet to hear from a '46 overseas, our boys are scattered from California to Florida, and from Alabama to Minnesota. In the vicinity of Dartmouth itself, Jack Marlette, Harry Colmery, Harlan Besse, Fritz Lothman, and Fletch Ingalls have won their C.P.T. wings at Kimball Union Academy, and will begin their pre-flight training shortly.
Edward J. Stratton is a 2nd It. at Camp Roberts, California, which is quite an accomplishment for so early in the game. Jack Murphy has recently been transferred to Camp Grant, Illinois. Dick McMahon is now at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, and will soon enter officer's training. George Swick is in Miami, Florida, and Howard Marjeri- son is in Little Rock, Arkansas. This gives you a fair idea of how our class has been spread over the country.
