Henry S. Proctor has been made financial secretary of the New Jersey Children's Home Society. He has been in Rhode Island the past nine years, as you will remember, as secretary of the R. I. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and Supt. of the State Home and School caring for neglected and dependent children. His wife and the three children will go to New Jersey with him.

Ralph Samuel has been active in welfare work for the past 25 years. He now has been appointed chairman of the merged New York and Brooklyn Federations of Jewish Charities. Ralph is also chairman of the Greater New York Army and Navy Committee of the Jewish Welfare Board. His g sons are in the armed forces as we have announced in detail before.

Henry Merrill soon may not be "Tubby"—as a member of Mayor Tobin's Boston's Victory Garden Committee and a Victory Gardener in his own right, he has already lost 10 lbs. He has become a grandfather for the second time, for Hank, down in Santiago, Chile (where Lowell Thomas talked from on July sth), has another son.

Cupid has been busy and here are some of the results:

Albert S. Kilbourn preached the annual conference sermon at the lowa Congregational Christian Conference. He went to the Congregational Ministers' Retreat at Sylvandale, Colorado, where he had received a scholarship in June. His daughter, Alberta, had been visiting him, and Jessie, with their grandson, James Albert Toillion, of Moline, 111.—Dartmouth 1964.

Frank Cushman reports that Gordon ("Pete") was graduated from Colgate last December, received his Ensign's commission in May and is now on duty with the Amphibian Force of Norfolk, Va. His engagement has just been announced. Frank's daughter, Barbara, has completed her third year at Smith and her engagement has just been announced to an M.I.T. junior.

After the Japs took over the tin mines in Malay, tin cans became so hard to get for olives that Squire Wilson left Sylmar Packing Corp. and went to the Trust Dept. of the Security First National Bank of Los Angeles in the head office. With the Japs gone from the gardens and farms there is need for gardeners, so Line has his Victory garden this year.

News is just coming in from the results of the marvelous job Hap Atwood has done on the Alumni Fund and John Remsen on our class end of the fund. We have made over 100% of our quota, and the total fund is another indication of what Dartmouth alumni can do in war years. AH in our class who missed out will want to be represented next year. A check now will count next year.
