DARTMOUTH CLUB OF CENTRAL OHIO held its Annual Spring Dinner Meeting on Friday, March 17, at the Hotel Seneca, Columbus.
Nineteen members attended which might have been larger if twenty-five of our group weren't in Service. For the latter, Ted Wilson '45, of the Navy, upheld honors.
Dr. Eckstorm '98, and Herb Duffy '20, were welcome additions, and each contributed an enjoyable short talk. Some others not on hand at the last meeting included:—Milo Clapp '25, Jim DeHaven '33, Ken Sater '21 and Eric Vaughan '38.
Our Chief speaker was Dr. Boynton Merrill '15, who has come here from New England. In addition to a fine talk, he gave us a renewed feeling of how much the College should and can mean in the trying times at hand and ahead. We are anticipating many future foregatherings with him. Newton's loss has been a Columbus gain.
Bill Webster '39, chief test pilot at Curtiss Wright here, showed two swell films of Navy flying, and plane engines. Then on an open forum basis he contributed some mighty instructive answers on this fast growing newcomer in our lives. Bill was still going strong at midnight. And we hope will be on hand next time to keep us up-to-date.
Our next meeting will probably be the summer picnic. Meanwhile, all best regards to our fellows in the service, especially the several overseas.
