June 1944 ENSIGN JOHN D. GILCHRIST JR. USNR, BOBB CHANEY

There weren't so very many of us on board for the Annual Dinner of the Washington Alumni group, just Rockwell, McCarty, Dorsey and ourself, but we had a very pleasant time of it, both at an earlier small informal get-together up topside and later around the festive board on the lower decks of the good ship Mayflower Hotel. Mac had picked up Stoney Jackson and brought him along, as did Rocky with a Harvard deck-mate, but all we could muster to accompany us to the earlier meeting was an inordinary thirst and the anticipation of an enjoyable evening of Dartmouth fellowship: each was taken care of in very good order. President Hopkins' talk took us back to the hills of Hanover in a manner that meant a great deal to all of us.

While we're on the subject of weddings we might add that we don't need newspaper dippings to evidence that of Joe Knap and Marjorie Marshall Gay of Norfolk, Virginia: we were there, on 29 April, so we can vouch for the pleasant affair that it was, there being something about southern beauties as bride and bridesmaids, and southern hospitality in general, that add to our interest in a wedding. The Knaps are living in good old SpuytenDuyvil, at 2475 Palisade Ave., New York City.
