Regretfully we must report the death of two more of our classmates. Lt.(jg) Jules Finnell Jr. was killed in a plane crash off the East Coast on February 26, 1945. Lt. Lloyd Wyatt Jr. was killed in action on June 14, 1945.

At least three of our members are back in Hanover resuming their studies after honorable discharges: John Billington, who had over fifty missions as a bombardier flying from Italy; Meryl Frost, who was tail-gunner of a big bomber which crashed in Italy; and BobRader, who was a fighter pilot in Italy and who holds several decorations. Frosty is being counted on for a lot of the punch of the 1945 edition of the Big Green football team. .... Lt. Clint Gardner was, when we last heard, commanding officer of the Buchenwald prison camp, scene of many of the atrocities Cpl. Bud Talley was in the thick of the Okinawa struggle as the message center chief for a Marine regiment which fought.for fifteen continuous days and nights on the Naha-Shuri front. This is his third Pacific campaign Marine First Lieutenant John Vandergrift is recovering at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif., from wounds received when his carrier was bombed Norm Simpson had a prominent part in "Life Begins at 85," a musical revue for G. I. audiences which opened June a in an American Red Cross Theatre in Rome Capt. Tom Kunau is one of a group of five Dartmouth men with the 439 th Troop Carrier Group in France, wearing five battle stars, plus a Presidential Unit Citation ribbon awarded for the Group's part in the D-Day invasion.

Jim White, who was in Italy as a fighter pilot, has been reported missing in action.

The list of service promotions reported recently is truly staggering. The following have been made Lt. (jg.)s: Eben Blackett, Don May, JohnGrimm, Arnold Sanders, Will Sporleder, Al Myers,Ren Smith, Ed Rehurek, Chuck Richardson, JohnBird, Teeny Riggs, Bruce Dean, Jim Donnelly,Jim Tows en, Ralph Rieth, Howie Pennington, BobGiff,ord, John Dennison, Ross Higier, Marsh Clark,George Springsteen, and Steve Lewis. Second lieutenants are: Moe Distin, Bud TroXell, .Nick Manitsas, Dick Whiting, Dick Ritchie, Morris Pollan,Brad Grinnell, Charlie McDowell, and Don Hinkley. Among the ensigns are: Dick Mure hie, BrandBeacham, Steve Homer, Mac Morse, Ed Eubanks,Buzz Beatie, Ralph Oberlin; and Earle Greenwood, the last, being a graduate from Annapolis. BudTroxell and Nick Manitsas were graduated from West Point.

Frank Parker, recently promoted to first lieutenant, is a Ferry Pilot in the 9th Air Force. ChuckRichardson was last reported in the vicinity of Okinawa. Dick Whiting is at Fort Blanding, Fla.; Dick Mayberry, now a first lieutenant, is in the South v Pacific as a Communications officer

Capt. Ja Densmore is back in the U. S. . . . . Lt. Charlie Pappas has been awarded the Silver Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal for achievement as co-pilot of a Liberator in the European Theatre.

From the Keeker Recke comes word that he is now stationed at Fort Custer, Mich., as a vocational counselor and, what's more important, that he's blissfully wedded to Kit Kelley of Cohasset, Mass. George also mentions meeting Bill O'Keefe at Ft. Custer and Jack Haffenreffer in Chicago. . . . . Lt. John Murphy is back home after being a German prisoner for approximately a year From Lt.(jg) Baum comes news that he is in a PT squadron in the South Pacific near Borneo and that he has recently met Teeny Riggs in the area. Also that Art Scharf is now a navigator on an LCI.

The month enlisted several more of our members in the married ranks. Walt Blackadar and Shirley Clement of Nashua, N. H., were married June 16, with the Charlies Pierce and Regan among those present. Earle Greenwood was married to Barbara Vance of Stamford, Conn., the day following his graduation from Annapolis. Wiley Hitchcock and Ann Burnham of Westport, Conn.; 2nd Lt. Ge,orge Troxell and Nancy Armitage of Swarthmore, Penna.; Bob Rader and Beatrice Woodward of Maplewood, N. J.; and Lt. Howard Wood and Elizabeth Ramsey of New York and Plainfield, N. J., complete the list. Brad Campbell, now at U. So. Calif, medical school, and Carol Johnson of Worcester, Mass., plan to be married July 28 in Pasadena, Calif. Whit Brown, who is at Long Island Medical, is to wed Lenore Holmes of New York City in August. Bill Brewster, in his last year at P and S, is engaged to Harriet Bullitt of Seattle, Wash., and Bennington College. Ens. Dave.Patterson, on duty at present in the South Pacific, is to wed Marie Bloomer of Binghamton, N. Y.
