Dan Donahue's wedding party at the Woodbury C.C. in June was a wing-ding .... next in importance to the sensational new Mrs. (the former Patricia McCarthy) were seen such notables as "Lefty" Bogan, new poppa, and Greyhound Bus exec, in New Orleans; BillBarret, of Remington Rand, whose tidy 74 gave him the Brookline Golf championship; Dick Ranger, Ford Dealer, who is looking for a prospective '44 on which to drop a new Ford at list; Ted Monro of the fancy woolen business; Dr. Fran and Ginny Murphy; Jim Donnelly, who, after Harvard Law and easing by the bar, is working in the D. A.'s office in Boston (Jim and family are expecting another blessed event in Oct.); and naturally, the party bloodhound, Harry "Rock" Davidson. The Boston Barrister is winding up a successful tour at the Boston U. Law School and will probably matriculate in dental school in Oct. as his GI Bill still has several months to run.
Rock passes on information that Jim "Hellon Skis" Browning is studying atomic physics at USC .... that Dr. Charlie Secor, new daddy, is about to hang the shingle.... that FredMills is ready to take over the Mills Novelty Cos., manufacturers of those tricky coke machines that promise to return change but don't, and stand "ready fo' Freddy".... that Jack Mulligan and wife are back at Hanover. Jack spent the summer as chief counsellor at a rather exclusive boys' camp.
George "Tank" Bruce, account executive, in true huckster manner saw his boss off on the Florida plane.... then forgot to get off before the plane did. "Hose" Craig and wife Liz vacationed briefly at the Cape before spinning out west for a visit with John Berry, pop of two boys and phone book advertising king in Dayton, and a stop-over with Lorenzo"Bud" Baker, director of the Baker Art Gallery (photography) in Columbus, Ohio.
From Benny "Hip Boots'' Jones, my insurance agent, comes word of a booming business of the coming aisle activity of Sam Barnes, now manager of the Morristown Lumber Supply Cos Ben recently cut a couple of Schlitzes with Sam Coombs, father of two and embryo Dumont executive also ran into, and tried to stick a policy on, Budd Welsch(KE), competing insurance man. Bob Campbell is now with AT&T in Montclair. JohnnyBillington, married to Janet Kaiser of Woodbury, N. J., is selling Sweet-Orr products. John's father-in-law is an Army big-wig one might look for the over-the-shoulder snapon's in future army fatigue costumes.
There is unofficial talk in the metropolitan area of Mrs. Kasenkina's leap from the Soviet Consulate being aggravated by a mad desire to get back to Sherm Davis. Bill Harrison of the famous Riley, Rondeau, & Harrison line, recently was appointed assistant instructor in civil engineering and assistant coach of hockey and football at Clarkson College. Bob (theNeedle) Allen, bond salesman exemplar and patron of the local ball parks and newsreel theatres, when last heard of was vacationing with family in Great Barrington. Fritz Witzel, after a successful N. Y. tour of duty with Spauldings is now working the mid-western area. Not much news from his old running mate, Bud "Sperk" Welch, now married, who, when last heard from, had abandoned the bonbon business for National Cash Registers. Malcolm "Boog" McLoud, sales engineer for Yale & Towne materials handling equipment in Chi reports that Ed "Buff" Crawford Hills and wife Frannie are comfortably situated in a fancy new abode in Cleveland .... complete right down to a power lawn mower for Buff.
Charlie Mottola, wife Ginny, and baby Suzie fled Georgia U. Law School for a visit home in Hastings, N. Y„ in time to make the heat wave Charlie walked away with top honors in his class, credits family for keeping him home to hit the Blackstone. Rickey Lewis, Oxford Paper Cos., worked in a nice summer instructing dealers throughout Maine. DickPleasants, formerly of the N. Y. Dartmouth Club, is now working the Pittsburgh area for Cluette Peabody (Arrow Shirts). Wynn Underwood, youngest member of the Vermont Legislature, has tossed his hat in the ring for a seat as Senator from Rutland County, after a creditable session in the General Assembly. Supplementing his political efforts, Wynn operates an antique business in Sudbury. JohnBrown, Dartmouth Phi Bete, continues winning scholastic honors, having just been elected to the Society of Fellows at Harvard. MarkPeisch has returned to the Hanover stamping grounds as an instructor in art, a switch in status which requires being awake the whole hour at an eight o'clock. Dick Ostberg, with the personnel division of Otis Elevator, is a new poppa of a wonderful little son, Rickie.
