In the future the Hanover Inn will send to class secretaries the name cards for visiting Alumni which it has placed on its prominent bulletin board. Thus when we visit Hanover in the future, your secretary will hear about it. We find that Alan Zeller and Bob White were in town for a few days, both staying at the Inn, but unfortunately we saw neither of them.

It is hoped that in the future you will consider sending to us informal pictures of yourselves for use in the MAGAZINE. It is emphasized at this point that a Dartmouth man, probably yourself, should be present in this picture, for although pictures of your family and friends are interesting, their scope is too limited for publication in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Be sure the picture is of you or a classmate.

During Christmas vacation (ten whole days this year), the Washington Alumni Club, like others, extended an invitation to undergraduates who lived in town to be the guest of the Club at lunch, and I am glad to be able to say that our class was by far the best represented of the undergraduate classes. We were represented by four of our number besides your secretary; Chuck Fendrich and Ed Markham NROTC; John Fondahl, Marine; and Leo Cunningham, now a civilian. Any chance you have to join such Alumni gatherings should be taken without hesitation, for you have a swell time and the "older fellows" are always enthusiastic to see new faces.

Dave Stahl reports that he saw Norm Fink in Boston while on Christmas leave. On our return, we were happily surprised to find a letter from Norm, so we have the information first hand. For the past eight months, Norm has been at the University of Chicago studying Japanese at the Army's request, and now, with only one month to go, Norm is eager to see any Dartmouth men, preferably of the class, who may be in his vicinity. Norm hopes that the characteristic "efficiency" of the Army will send him back to Hanover rather than some place where his training will help. Norm reports seeing Bob Motlong, Ham Chase, and Barry Marks at Notre Dame, besides Dave Stahl in Boston; all are now in Hanover.

But if Norm is sent to Japan, he will find an old friend there, Phil Sega. Phil has been there with the 27th Division since the 10th of September, first spending two weeks at the Imperial Military Academy, and now stationed at Niigata with a Special Service Platoon. He expected to be doing athletic work in which he had had some experience but is now working in a radio station which rebroadcasts American programs for the boys in Japan.
