Our class president, "Willie" Wilson, declares in writing that he estimates that about 48 inches of snow had fallen on Hartford, Conn., and vicinity in the early part of the winter, which was nearly all removed by the January thaw, and then came seven inches more and later still more and then more.
"Well," says he, "there is not much to do about it except keep the'walks clear as the law requires."
"Willie's" report of weather conditions in Hartford, Conn., is pertinent to winter weather in Hartford, Vermont, and Hanover, N. H.
But Joel Harley reports that he and his good wife are consuming sunshine in Winter Park, Florida, on Frank Austin's "five acres of Paradise."
Austin, genius that he is, wrote me a day or two after Christmas: "I had a grand Christmas present in the form of the appearance at the 'farm' on Christmas morning of Joel and his wife. We have been 'reuning' daily ever since their arrival. Life here is a most welcome change for Joel from polishing snow-shovel handles. From now on he will wield nail hammer blows with warm hands in fabricating a winter home here in Winter Park." Sensible Frank and Joel!
But how tantalizing they are to us classmates hibernating in 48 inches of snow!
