OUR FORTY-FIFTH IN FORTY-SIX July 26—27—28

Bill Sykes now writes from Porto Rico that he will be at the Reunion in July, arriving early and staying late, and will have a new crop of Porto Rican stories to relate. That is good news and clearly indicates the Sykes brand of class spirit.

In a recent letter to Johnnie Ward, Bill recalls our first class meeting in old Dartmouth, and Dr. Tucker saying, "Gentlemen, before we were, a great fire was lighted on this hill. It is your high privilege to draw near and warm yourselves at its flames for a time. When we are no more it will continue to burn, and so on to the end." And then "Chuck" Emerson in a different vein, "Gentlemen, I am a patient man and long suffering. I overlook many things I ought not to. I put up with many things I ought not to put up with. But I tell you fellows right now I will not stand for your cutting your kindling wood from the balusters and stairways of this College."

Sidney Harding hopes to be with us in July. He is now the oldest Superintendent of Schools in point of service in Vermont. His health is good enough so that he enjoys both work and living.

Squash Mclntyre reports that he is very busy, now doing consulting work on his own account, after retiring from the Scully Steel Products Cos., with whom he was associated many years.

The Ruggs have moved from White Plains, as they have purchased a new home at Bridge Hampton, Long Island. Warren retired April 1, after many years of service with the City of New York, and he plans to carry on an extensive gardening project at his home.

The engagement of Nancy Capwell Salomon and Wilson Packer Graham has been announced, the wedding to take place at Riverside Church, New York City, May 4. Nancy has been affiliated with the Navy Department in Washington, and her fiance was graduated from the University of Chicago and attended the Harvard School of Business Administration. He spent four years with the Naval Reserve, serving as naval intelligence liaison officer on the staff of General Mac Arthur and later on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington.

We had an all too short call from the Cudworth's on their way North from Florida, where they spent the last of the winter, following their extensive auto trip to the Pacific Coast. They called on classmates all along the way and report a most marvelous trip.

Plans are complete for the Reunion in July, and most of the details are worked out. You will all be advised shortly. However, the Reunion will not be complete unless each and everyone is there, so keep the dates in mind July 26-27-28, and make your summer plans accordingly.
