The personality of John Sloan Dickey was basic in the satisfying success of our annual dinner. The self effacing honesty and sincere humility of the man is unbelievable. The things he has accomplished jvithout sacrificing those unaggressive characteristics must indicate he has exceptional ability. A 1 Dickerson's talk brought us up to date on conditions in Hanover. Josh Davis '27 gave us the pitch on the 1946 Alumni Fund. The details on special gifts were outlined by Ort Hicks 'ax and Jack Hubbell '2l. Tom Curtis '32 and Bill Rench '34 of St. Louis attended the dinner. Spic Saunders '22 again took enough breakage from the bar tickets to pay for the entertainment and leave a pretty penny for those who served us. Mickey Emrich '30 representing the Chicago Alumni Scholarship Fund gave Dr. Dickey $2,000 to deposit in Hanover, raising our total there to about $15,000. The 1946-47 officers elected at the annual meeting were: president, John William Embree Jr. '21: vice president, Donald M. Wood Jr. '33; secretary, Donald MacKay '20; treasurer, Frederick K. Castle '37. Roger C. Wilde '21, Robert L. Raclin '40 and Connor B. Shaw Jr. '43 were added to the executive committee.
