AFTER sponsoring a highly enjoyable and successful concert by the College Glee Club, which was followed by a dance at the Hotel Statler in Buffalo in April, the Western New York Alumni Association kept the Dartmouth spirit alive in its territory during the summer months with two splendid outings. The first of these was the fourth annual intercollegiate outing at the Cherry Hill Country Club on July 31, 1947. Although the Dartmouth group finished second to Cornell in the annual gold competition for the coveted, hand-painted "Wailing Bowl," we managed to score ahead of the representatives from Michigan and Pennsylvania. Plenty of fun. prizes for everyone, good food and a grand time was had by all of the forty-some-odd Dartmouth Alumni who were present.

The traditional Cornell-Dartmouth Alumni picnic was again staged this year on August 27 at the Buffalo Canoe Club and, although the Cornell group managed to eke out a narrow 9 to 7 victory in the customary soft-ball game, the spirit of good-fellowship and friendly rivalry between the two groups was more firmly cemented. All thirty of the Dartmouth group present had a lot of fun, good food and a splendid chance to exercise their vocal chords in praise of their Alma Mater.

Regular monthly luncheons of the Alumni Association will continue to be held on the last Monday of each month at the big table in the main dining room of the Buffalo Athletic Club throughout the fall and winter season. Alumni visiting in the Buffalo area are cordially invited to attend.

Plans are now being made for a dance on Dartmouth night, October 10, so that the wives of the Alumni may help us in observing this night which is dear to the hearts of all Dartmouth men. Further plans are now being laid for the big hockey round-robin to

be held in Buffalo, December 29 to January 4 when the Dartmouth and Williams hockeyteams will play hosts to the teams from Cornell, Colgate, Michigan and Princeton. Further details of this big holiday event will be announced in a later edition of these notes.
