ON MONDAY noon, September 22, the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Philadelphia entertained 14 new freshmen and their fathers at a luncheon meeting. Jack McLaughlin '28, president, welcomed the members of the Class of '51 from Philadelphia and vicinity to their first Dartmouth gathering and announced that they were always welcome at our Alumni Club functions. The following new freshmen attended: James Cornman, Russell Dilks, Robert Fox, Tilbert Gyorgy, John Hume, Albert Katz, Warren Mulloy, Robert Olander, Richard Pugh, Samuel Roberts, Robert Robinson, Barry Spiegel, David Stuart and Roland Swain.

Al Bonniwell has recently accepted a commission in the regular Army, and we'll certainly miss seeing him at our Tuesday luncheons. All Dartmouth men who live in or around Philadelphia or are in Philadelphia on Tuesdays will be interested in attending our informal luncheons, held weekly at the Princeton Club. We average some 15 alumni at these functions each week.

On Friday evening, October 10, we held our dinner and smoker in celebration of Dartmouth Night. So many of our club members made the trip to Hanover for the Penn game that only 22 showed up for cocktails, roast beef dinner and plenty of beer at $3.00 a head. Doc Hahn led the informal singing following the meal while two new club members, PerryThomas '39 and Tom Ballantyne '40, quoted some of the best limericks ever heard in this City of Brotherly Love! We wired President Dickey as follows: "The Dartmouth Alumni Club of Philadelphia joins you this evening in a dinner meeting to celebrate Dartmouth Night. Many of our members have left for Hanover in the hope of seeing Dartmouth beat Penn. Best wishes for a most successful year for Dartmouth, her administration, professors and undergraduates." The following men were in attendance: William R. MacKinney '32, Jack McLaughlin '28, S. S. Rutherford 'OB, H. J. Trefethen '26, P. C. Thomas Jr. '39, T. A. Ballantyne Jr. '40, J. Paul Erwin '18, Joseph M. Flounders '47, John Flanagan '28, Tom Williams '31, D. R. Frame '28, E. A. Wright 3rd '28, Harry S. Weaver Jr. '24, W. W. Rutherford '40, W. W. McClarin Jr. '35, Eliot B. Thomas '34, George F. Tillson '43, Francis S. Cox '46, William C. Miller '46, George A. Hahn '32, R. C. Colton '25, and Cornwall Miller '39.

On Friday evening, November 21, we plan a big pre-Princeton game football dinner and smoker.... by the way, for those who can't make the game, go to the nearest television set since this will be one of the few Ivy League games to be televised.
